(Webmaster's note: These directions were written prior to the service changes during September 2001. Most of these routes have been restored since, but please make sure that the route specified here actually works by going to MTA's website at mta.info.)

For the most part, any train or bus that services the downtown area will take you near Stuyvesant, via City Hall, Chambers Street or the World Trade Center. The following routes, however may prove to be both faster and more convenient:


From Manhattan
By Subway
Upper East Side: Lexington Avenue Express (4,5) to City Hall
Upper West Side: Broadway Express (2,3) OR Eighth Avenue Express (A,C) to Chambers Street
Midtown & Downtown: (N,R,1,9 and E) may all prove to be convenient, depending on where you live.


By Bus
M10: Stops right by Stuy and it serves the West Side
M22: Stops near Stuy, serving the Lower East Side and Chinatown
M6/M9: Both stop within several blocks of the school Express (X23/X90) - Stops near City Hall


From the Bronx
By Subway
All Areas: Take the trains that will allow you to transfer to the Lexington Avenue Express (4,5), the Broadway Express (2,3) or the Eighth Avenue Express (A,C) to Stuyvesant (See #1)


From Queens
By Subway
Northern: Flushing Line (7), or the Broadway Local (N,R) to Times Square for the Broadway Express (2,3) to Stuy
Central: The Eighth Avenue Local (E) takes you to the World Trade Center with transfers throughout Manhattan to the Eighth Avenue Express (A,C) The Sixth Avenue Local (F) has a transfer point at West 4th Street to the Eighth Avenue trains.


Alternatives
Express buses: They will take you to midtown where you can take the subway to Stuy from there
The Long Island Railroad: It can take you to Penn Station for transfer to the (A,C,E,1,2,3,9) trains.


From Brooklyn
By Subway
Northern: (A,C) to Chambers Street, (L) to Eight Avenue for the (A,C,E) to Stuy
Central: (2,3) to Chambers Street OR (4,5) to City Hall
Southern: (N,R) to City Hall.


From Staten Island
All Areas: Bus or Rail to the Staten Island Ferry, and transfer at South Ferry to (1,9) to Chambers Street
Buses: Through New Jersey to Port Authority Bus Termnal and take the (A,C) to Chambers Street.
